Wii U Game console and Controller

The new Wii U has a slicker console compare to the original Wii. What was shown is a console in pearl white and this presented a very clean look. It is rumored that the console video graphics will support full 1080p HD, and HDMI output. The visual and sound quality should be on par (or nearly so) with the PS3 and XBox 360. With that said about the Wii U console, it will be its game play, not graphics that will likely make this 8th generation device different from the 7th. By the way this is how the console looks like from the front.

What stands out is not the console but the new touchscreen controller of Wii U. As you can see in the video yesterday, the Wii U will allow for several different kinds of game play, with the new touchscreen controller that controls all the actions.

And when combined with a TV or projected screen, it allows for augmented game play, like the golf  game and the baseball game as shown in the video. Thus there is a clear interactivity between what is shown in the big screen and the controller.

Now another new thing is the ability to play asymmetrically in multiplayer gaming. This feature is cool and allows players to play at different locations in the same game but on the same big screen. Thus players will be viewing different views in their respective controller.

And off-course if the big screen like the TV is in use the Wii U’s additional smaller screen will allow you to keep on playing be it in the living room or snugging nicely and comfortably in bed. Behold late night gaming takes another new dimension. Or one can  just stop playing the game and instead asked another partner to play a two person game on the controller, like a game of GO with accompany sound effects.

Another good piece of news is that the original Wiimotes will still be able to be used in Wii U.

This is good consideration by Nintendo to allow the investment for the first Wii to be applicable in Wii U. With this I am sure ther will be a good take up of Wi U when it is released in 2012.

Is Nintendo intending to make its new Wii U controller an all in one device from gaming to off gaming applications?

It is a maybe because the new controller can also be used for video conferencing, Internet browsing and as a sketch pad too.

Hmm … just what else can they think up off. I will not be surprised that more features will be included when it is finally released.
